I'm havin a hard tym narrowin down 2 either one. I'll b joinin a law college 4 a 5 yr course n i need a laptop wich helps me thruout. Here r a few specifications dat i need: light weightd(less than 2 kg preferably), sturdy n solid, enuf spacong betwn keyboard keys, backlit keyboard, min. 2 USB connections and a connection 2 n hdmi, good clarity and resolution, good audio, a DVD burner, a card reader, inbuilt wifi and bluetooth, a blu ray drive preferably, a longer battery lyf, a good memory storage and enough disk space. should have a slick look and should be an "easy-to-carry" one. i'm open 2 suggestions for laptops other than these. and yea, my budget is somewhere between US $800 to $1000...Hp pavilion dm4 or hp envy 14? which one is better?
long battery life, grab one with a 9-cell battery. Also one with Optimus technology (it switches to onboard video when the discrete card isn't used), a processor that ends in 'UM' or 'LM' (low wattage CPU's)Hp pavilion dm4 or hp envy 14? which one is better?
i think none of them has a backlit keyboard, but u can buy one of those external lights ( plugable on USB port )
no bluray drive also , but everything else you cited is available on both laptops i think.
lil comparison :
hp envy 14:
-- %26gt; like the dm4 , Intel Core i5-450M -- cool ! fast enough for everything a law student would do :)
-- %26gt; ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 -- very nice for games! ( not with highest details, but it will do )
-- %26gt; RAM : 4Gb
BUT : 5.2 pounds = 2.35868032 kilograms and u said 2kg exactly :/
-- %26gt; battery : (hrs:min) 4:25
--- %26gt; slightly larger screen ( 14.5 inches )
hp dm4 :
---- %26gt; pretty much the same BUT :
---- %26gt; 1.95044719 kilograms, lighter ( yeah im precise... )
---- %26gt; graphics card is a mere GMA HD , which means no recent games can be played , just some very old ones ( around 2002 ) or casual games ( diner dash for example ) -- yeah, i would choose the game option but im not you ^^
----- %26gt; battery : (hrs:min) 5:48
---- %26gt; 14 inches screen

If you a regular user, Both laptop are very nice , so dont have too much regret choosing one over the other, you might want to see both laptops at the same time to compare other aspects ( design , if it fits in another bag etc... )
ur welcome :)
