I think I'm leaning towards the envy but I just have one question. When you close the screen on the envy does it go to sleep and wake up right away like with the macbook pro or do you have to sign in again and stuff? Thanks.HP Envy 14 or Macbook Pro 13"?
If that's the only reason you want an Envy, then you need to look more into the specs...
All of those settings can simply be changed within the computer, whether it's a Mac or PC, you can choose whether you will need to enter a Password upon Computer Wake-up.
I will only say this.
Mac = Better quality, more reliable, better built.
PC = Lower quality, less reliable, cheaply built.
Another person said that the Envy was more upgradeable... Well, if that person had noticed this was a Laptop... Then they would realize that a Macbook Pro is just as upgradeable as the Envy. Either way, you can only upgrade the Hard Drive and RAM if anything in both Laptops...
You will probably see better specs for the same price with the Envy, but, the Mac will last longer. Just because Apple doesn't use cheap, low quality parts.
Hope I helped!
The screen: some one may complain this laptop never comes with radiance display anymore. Actually, the bright view screen is great, and it's even brighter and has more vibrate color than my wife's macbook pro.
The touchpad: This sandy bridge refresh version has a nearly as good as macbook touchpad. Multigesture, two finger scroll and pinch zoom all work smoothly. Just remember don't update the synaptics drive. New driver doesn't support double-tab to turn off touchpad feature.HP Envy 14 or Macbook Pro 13"?
Yes, the Envy is capable of doing that. You just have to change it in your settings under Power%26gt;Change what closing the lid does. Trust me, I have the Envy 17 and I have never had a problem with it yet. They also have the ProtectSmart Covers on the underside that lock the Hard Drive in other internal components in place, in case you drop it.
The Envy also has all kinds of HP Exclusive software, a built in webcam, and a special Dock that resembles the one on the MacBook for easy app finding. Also, HP's Support is A lot better and faster than Apple's (Yet another personal experience from when I had to contact them about my Nephew's Warranty) they help you as easily as they can, and explain everything out to you.
Also, if you get the HP you get 1-3 months of Norton Antivirus Free. Along with being more durable, the Envy (in my opinion) has a lot more to offer because it has a better processor than the MacBook '13, it also has Beats Audio, which easily outmatches Apple's sound system.
Bottom Line: I think the Envy is the right choice for you, and that it also outmatches the Apple MacBook 13 any day.
Hope this helps influence your decision!
Dude go for Macbook Pro. It has a faster processor, long lasting battery, higher resolution, awesome video quality, video editing and many other extra features. Hp envy is amazing for music making but when it comes to Mac, everybody prefers Mac over pcs. No other machine can give you the ultra sophistication than a Macbook Pro.
