Macbook Pro 13 or HP Envy 14 Beats edition?

Cant decide, both cost about the same. Narrowed it down to these two since i NEED a backlit keyboard. I'll be using it for web surfing, and MS Office. Dont play much games (except for online poker sometimes)

Mac Pros; great display, great backlit keyboard, love the solid sturdy design of the body and the keyboard

Mac Cons; pricey for what u get (15" mac with the envy's specs costs more than double!!! which is why im considering the 13" for almost the same amount of money), less than adequate power? (but then again, do i NEED an i5 cpu for web surfing?)

Envy Pros; LOTS of power for the money, best build quality of any PC laptop ive seen, has a backlit keyboard (why is it so hard to find a laptop with this??!?!?!)

Envy Cons; display not as good as on the mac (like the flush glass design, but the macs resolution just looks better to me), battery life not as good as the macs, build quality is ok but not as good as the macs (has some keyboard flex whereas the macs have none)

so which should i choose???

thanks and happy holidays to all.Macbook Pro 13 or HP Envy 14 Beats edition?
You really don't need that much power if that's all you do. The Envy is overkill for web surfing and MS Office. There's cheaper computers out there with backlit keyboards.

What about a Dell Latitude E6410? It's got a magnesium alloy chassis and it is built solid. With a 9-cell battery, battery life should be decent. As for the keyboard, backlit is an option for an additional $50, and I don't notice any flex for everyday typing (I'm typing on one right now). Also, it has a default 3-year warranty. However, the screen is going to be worse.

EDIT: Well, the keycaps are shaped in a way where the key surfaces are rather large and the slope of the edges are very steep. It's probably similar to typing on a chiclet.Macbook Pro 13 or HP Envy 14 Beats edition?
Seen as you want to use Microsoft Office, I'd recommend the PC, as Mac's are unable to handle all the functions as well as you might hope. Like you said, for what you want to use it form, you'd get a lot better spec from the PC that you could utilise.
