2011 HP Envy 14 i5-2410M vs i7-2630QM?

I am getting a new laptop and have decided to get a 2011 envy 14. What I cant decide is which processor ? I understand the i5 is dual core and is better on battery life and heat. The i7 is quad core is isnt so good on battery nor heat. Both these processors are second gen.



What I use my laptop for is photoshop, music and video editing, taking notes during class and college homework.



I want the i5 because the battery life but it is dual core and will be obsolete in a few years.



I want the i7 because the performance and it wont be as obsolete in a few years but the battery life sucks.



I want to max out the RAM for each processor so with i5 I can only go 6gb but with i7 I can go 16gb.



I also plan to get a splice/sheet battery for the envy in the future so that should give it extra battery life.



What is the difference in battery life anyways? and is the extra power and future use worth the battery life? I would need the laptop to last a 10 hour school day on a single charge.2011 HP Envy 14 i5-2410M vs i7-2630QM?
