I need to upgrade my computer (Dell Studio 15) because it is now broken after 2 years (my brother dropped it on a corner and snapped the case).
So, now I've been shopping around. So, which is better, a Macbook Pro 13 or a HP Envy 14?
A little about my computer usage: heavy internet usage (email, research, facebook), digital photo editing, creating documents for school, and a some misc. media viewing.
So, based on what you know, what would you suggest?Which one: Macbook Pro 13 or HP Envy 14? (college student)?
It truly depends on you. Both the Mac and the HP can be customized to suit your needs. However...
Comparing/Contrasting the two might help you decide. First of all, the Mac has a price range of roughly $1200-$1500. Considering that your parents have to pay tuition for college as well, this is a pretty hefty price. The Mac is also equipped with a faster clocked i7 processor for more power. Hard drive space is customizable and doesn't make much of a difference. On the downside, the Mac has an Intel HD 3000, a highly underpowered graphics card for the price of that laptop.
The HP Envy 14 comes equipped with almost the same features (HDD, RAM, etc.) but a with a quad core i7 versus the Mac's dual core. Or you can customize it to your needs on HP's website. Also the Envy has a powerful ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650. Now this is a card worthy of a $1000+ laptop. Though you might not game, this card is far more "future proof" as videos reach higher qualities. Lastly, the cost on a recommended configuration for a 14 is ~$1400. Seeing as this is roughly the same as a Mac, you have to take in to consideration the features I listed.
Personally, I would go with the Envy 14 as it is more "bang for your buck." In the end however, it's your choice. Good Luck!Which one: Macbook Pro 13 or HP Envy 14? (college student)?
