Do I need a Core i5 or i7 processor?

I will mostly be doing photo and video editing, web designing with Dreamweaver, Netflix, and then just basic web browsing.

I am getting the HP Envy 14, so I am afraid the i7 will overheat it or make the battery run down faster. Price doesn't matter.Do I need a Core i5 or i7 processor?
The i5 will do just fine for these tasks.

The i7 is generally for heavy gaming, and intense multi-tasking, especially considering the fact i7's are suitable for Overclocking.

The i5 will be perfectly fine for this. The i7 would actually be less likely to overheat with what you are doing, since it is not so hard on the Processor. The i5 may actually become hotter than the i7 would.

I hope I helped!
