You really do NOT want to update the BIOS unless the mfr has issued an update to address a known problem, or potential problem, in the prior version. That is the only reason BIOS updates are issued by mfrs.
If the need arises to update the BIOS for this reason, you must identify the EXACT make/model of your motherboard, including revisions, and locate the BIOS update for that specific motherboard.
Otherwise, bad things can/will happen when you 'upgrade'.
The second key thing is DO NOT, for any reason, power off your PC in the middle of a BIOS update. That will cause a catastrophe.
