Base price: $998.59

If his isn't the laptop for you, xoticpc.com has tons of laptops in your price range which will be capable of handling anything you want.

Also, you won't find a Mac for under $1000.
I recommend apple products because I used to buy PCs all the time and I realized macs are much safer (security wise) and less prone to viruses and malware. Also, since you are going to college, it's good to have a laptop with more battery life, which macbooks have plenty of (i get around 5 hours).Best lap top for under a thousand bucks?
most established major companies use Planned obsolescence and build bugs into the hardware and software causing the computers to fail so they no longer have to service the old tech.

I know for a fact Apple, Dell, HP, Compaq, all do.

alienware does and charges mass amounts for led lights.

Try Acer, ASUS, and MSI. I have serviced desktops and laptops and found nothing designed to cause a failure.
