Currently I have my iPhone synced to my family's Mac ( OS X 10.6.4), but I'm going off to college, and I just bought the HP ENVY 14 (windows 7 home premium). I want to sync it to the HP ENVY, but I dont want to lose all my contacts, app, songs, ect. Is there a way for me to make the switch without losing everything?
Also, I wont have my PC until I am actually at college, so iTunes Home Sharing won't workIPhone 4: Mac -%26gt; PC help?
the only way to do it is going to be impossible. you would have to transfer them to your mac and then transfer them to your winpc via thumb drive or fat32 hard drive.

Which 13-14inch laptop with i-series is best out there?
First of all, my initial budget is just around the area of a Dell Inspiron 1464 (which is about 800 usd).
I'm prioritizing with one that is very good for multitasking, one that doesn't crash or lag as much, and one that has long battery life
bonuses are:
Good for editing and storing videos
Nice audio and video quality
and stylish and handy
I'm planning to buy next week and I've spent the past weeks jumping from one laptop to another. I'm really stuck with a delimma here, maybe you guys can help.
Laptops I've considered:
Macbook Pro 13" --- too pricey
HP envy 14 --- I've heard that the quality isn't that good? And also a bit pricey
Dell Inspiron 1464 --- I've heard bad stuff about Dell products
Lenovo G460 ---- so far what I'm considering because its affordable and everything I'm looking for is there. But I'm really uneducated with Lenovo products, and I'm afraid that it being a bit too affordable may have a catch on such a good selling...
Help anyone? Thanks in advance.Which 13-14inch laptop with i-series is best out there?

Need a good high performance laptop for multimedia and video editing?
I know about the tons of people asking this very thing, but I could really use some help. Im not a complete noob when it comes to computer stuff, but am one when it comes to buying a laptop. This will be my first laptop and I'm the type who wants her stuff to last aslong as possible. So would like a laptop that can last me a good couple of years.
Ok, so about the requirements. The stuff I know people would ask me first would be brand, budget, screen size and what I need to do on it
I dont have a confirmed budget now so any prices are ok. Brand: I have a thing for hp but I guess any brand is ok, no apple mac stuff though. The system better not be vista, dont think I needed to say that but anyway, no vista!
What I want it for is multimedia and video editing purposes. I dont think it necessary to mention it being all hd, considering its turning into a norm now. I know people recommend a larger screen for this but Im ok with a small screen, infact i'd prefer it because of the portability. I plan to plug it in to an external screen if i need a large screen, with wireless keyboard and mouse (I hate the touchpad thing on laptops, mouse all the way!). I would probably also do some gaming on it. Wouldnt mind any of that 3d stuff, totally want a blu ray drive tho. Would really love a quad core processor, altho if any of ya know a better option, im all ears.
I was almost about to consider the hp tm2t but the gaming dsnt seem good on it. Also checked out the ENVY 14 beats edition (which sounds real good for its size and with the 3d enabled stuff), but many complaints (too good to be true? lol). If any of ya own it do tell about it, and any better options, from tm2t ya can guess how small a screen im happy with, and the tablet thing being an advantage for the student life.
i have been chacking out a number of things, but like a said, noob. Also I think it better to get advice from people who are customers and can tell about the laptops they own and why they good. Is hp a good idea? and if you have better options maybe ya could send a link with the configs and anythng else?
I think I've written all I need to, incase anything missing, lemme know I'll definitely update the question based on anything missing.
Will apreciate any help ya can give me. ^_^Need a good high performance laptop for multimedia and video editing?

DO NOT get a Mac computer. I don't even know if this is relevant to your question, but I'm telling you they're WAY overrated. Everyone thinks they're sooooo cool and all that and blah blah blah but I'm telling you they really are AWFUL. All they really have is a good screen. Everything else sucks

Sony VAIO SA review...?
Hi I was wondering if anyone used this laptop:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as鈥?/a>
since I am considering buying it because it is portable, powerful and has a matte screen.
Then only bad thing I've heard so far is that the hinge feels alittle weak.
Other laptops that I have considered include Envy 14 2020NR and HP Elitebook 14", they're all under $1000-900
Thanks in advance.

Which laptop is the better deal for the money?
I have to laptops listed below. I want to know which laptop is the better deal for the money? Like which gives you more money's worth for the specifications each laptop gives? I do general gaming like League of Legends and Starcraft 2.

HP envy has the better screen, and included features (photoshop, elemtns, bluetooth, and mini display port, etc. The battery should also have a better running time being an 8 cell.
The Lenovo has the better brute force though, a much better processor and more Ram (although 8gb is overkill, 4gb is sufficient for today), which is the foundation for a computer.
personally they are both good. I prefer HP's computers and Laptops as all mine have lasted. Lenovo I don't know much about. The Lenovo in this case is more future proof however with the better processor. If you could upgrade to a good quad core for the HP I would go with the HP bar none.
Also be sure the HP has 64 bit Windows 7, as 32 bit begining to phase out today in time.Which laptop is the better deal for the money?
Lenovo Ideapad Y470 For sure... don't get the 32-bit computer, because they are becoming out of date, and eventually some programs won't work on them, and they will become really slow...

Should I get a Macbook Pro?
Hi. I've been debating getting a new laptop for a while now, and I've narrowed it down to two options: the new Macbook Pro 13" or the HP Envy 14. I'm not so worried about getting a new PC, but I'm having doubts about switching to Apple after being a long-time PC-user. If I do get a Macbook it'll mainly be used for documents, Power Point presentations, photography, and everyday web browsing, e-mailing etc. I'm probably going to take this laptop with me to college, so keep that in mind. One question I would like to have answered is: are programs such as Picasa able to be installed on a Macbook? Explain to me literally almost everything about these laptops coming from an actual user. Am I going to have problems configuring documents to be able to be shown on PC's, are there any major changes that I'm going to have to get used to, etc. Also list the pros and cons of switching. Thank you so much.Should I get a Macbook Pro?
Personally, I find the Mac operating system much more user-friendly and simplistic. However, it's very powerful. Pretty much anything you can do with a PC, you can do with a Mac. Yes, Picasa is available for the Mac (just go to picasa.google.com). You will have Firefox (no Internet Explorer, IE is for Windows/Microsoft only) or Safari or Chrome available, you will have iTunes, iChat (AIM, Yahoo Messenger, Google, etc. client built-into one), as well as being able to buy Microsoft Office for Mac (2011). With this, your files will be saved as .docx or .pptx or .xlsx, which can be opened using Microsoft Office for Windows. Essentially, the Macintosh operating system has slowly become mainstream, so you won't have much trouble with compatibility. Best way to see if you like it or not is to go to an Apple Retail store or local Best Buy or Media Center and check it out.
Just as a side note, you can install both Windows 7 (or Vista or XP) AND Mac OS X Lion (10.7) side by side using Bootcamp. There is also software such as OpenBox (free) or VmWare Fusion or Parallels Desktop that can run a virtual copy of Windows (or essentially any other operating system). For the $999 you spend on the Envy, add $400 more and you will get the ability to run two OS's on one computer. Plus, the computer is good for an overall user (casual video editing, web browsing, music, etc).
Yup, I'd go Mac. It's really easy to set up, and you can get used to it quickly! Programs are easily compatible and Apple's support is wonderful! On a side note, if you do get a Mac, choose to get the AppleCare before your one year warranty is over. It'll pay for itself if something goes wrong.
Get the HP Envy 14.

What is the difference between a dual core i5 and a dual core i7 processor?
I am looking for a good light weight laptop for college next year and i have my eyes set on the Sony VAIO S series (or the ENVY 14 if it ever gets sandybridge). My question is about what kind of performance I could expect from the S series, mainly its new i7 and AMD 6630m graphics. What is the difference between a dual core i5 and a dual core i7 processor?
No such thing as a dual-core i7. Only quad-core i7's. Did you mean i5 quad VS. i7 quad? If you meant that, then cache size and hyperthreading is the primary difference between the two.
EDIT: Ahh ok, makes sense then. I'm honestly not that familiar with the new mobile Sandy Bridge i7's, just the desktop ones. But according to the link, it features hyperthreading (virtual cores). And i5's don't support hyperthreading by default. So I'm going to guess that that's the difference... still. What is the difference between a dual core i5 and a dual core i7 processor?
I7 is faster then i5 Processor
I have a few that I would recommend and they have great price tags:

*ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 Graphics with 1GB Dedicated Video Memory

How to fix a DVD drive that ejects all media?
I have a new HP envy 14 with Beats Audio. The DVD drive won't read any disks, after about 30 seconds it ejects it back out. The cursor on screen shows it's trying to read a disk. I've updated the drivers, tried different types of media, tried the last one that worked, nothing. It's a slot loading drive so I cant even see into it. Under properties it says it's a HP DVDRAM GS20N and under that it says SAMSUNG HM640JJ. Any ideas? I'd rather not take it back to Staples, who knows when I'll see it again, lol. Ty for any advise. How to fix a DVD drive that ejects all media?

You don't fix it, you have them fix it for you. Even if you could repair it yourself you would void the warranty, and be stuck with the problem or a $$$ repair bill. Ive been wanting to get a laptop but i dont want something crappythat breaks down all the time. Also, faster is better(:
I found two that i find good so far:
~ hp envy 14
%26amp;
~ dell xps 15
are these good? i havent found any reveiws on them
If you guys know any bwtter ones please let
me know. My budget is around 1000
also preferably no other dells. I dont really have good experiences with rhose because they tend to break down.
Thanks!!:DWhich laptop is better.....?
Find something that has a lot reviews... Also... with that budget look for an alienware on ebay...
Neither of those meet your criteria: " i dont want something crappythat breaks down all the time". They both have very poor quality reputations.
A computer is more than just some components shoved in a case. There is build quality, stability, and user experience which are more important then the marketing speed shown. Dell xps 15. I hate hp. I had 2 computers (1 laptop, 1 desktop) both broke down many times. and with the first one, i called hp and the guy said Oww just a lemon. wont happen again. sure enough it does. I would say Dell for reliability and practicality.
XPS 15 is actually a good laptop, I had the late 2010 model and it was good but I sold it, and I'm waiting to receive the new 2011 model! JBL speaker is awesome!!

Computer Gaming Help?
I just got Assassin's Creed Revelations last week for PC and it has worked fine on my computer with all the graphics settings maxed out. However I started it up today and it is glitching too much. I can't play it as it is. I checked my current processes and they were all normal and i had no open programs in the background. Just for experimentation, I turned all the graphics settings as low as they could go and it made no difference. I have even cleaned my HDD with CCleaner and restarted my computer. Please help!

About my computer's memory...?
About a year ago I bought an HP ENVY 14 1095, with:
4GB of DDR3@1066Mhz,
an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 with 1GB,
and an Intell i5 m520@2.4GHz.
Now, when I checked the specs it says the amount of usable RAM is 3.8GB, what I need to know is what is using the other 256MB?
Second, I want to know the EXACT amount of "Graphics" Memory and "Video" Memory I've got installed... I doubted because it says on the device specs: "Resolution: 1600x900, Total arox. Memory: 2705MB %26lt;-- What's this???
Thank you for your help, I'm a HUGE noob, please don't kill me.About my computer's memory...?
Its because most laptops that come with a dedicated graphics card, also have an integrated graphics chipset (used for power saving). And that integrated chip dedicated itself 256mb of your ram to be its video memory. Im sure you can change it in the bios to ONLY use the dedicated card, and that should release your ram.
s for the second question, i would guess its the max memory total between both graphics combined.
1600something mb for the integrated chip, and 1024mb from the card. As most integrated chips can use up to 1600 something mb of ram, which would be completely pointless though lol.
(im just giving a guess, im not exactly sure).
If you are getting 3.8 GB of usable ram from 4GB that is really good. You usually get less than that. I have 4 GB and it shows i am getting 3.78 GB of usable ram. It's just like I have a 1 TB HDD and it shows the usable amount
is 931 GB out of the total 1000 GB. The formatting etc.. uses the rest.About my computer's memory...?
The 'missing' 256MB is exactly the amount of the graphics memory. The integrated graphics controller does not have its own, it uses the system memory.
This is usually down to either memory being shared against a graphics card or a motherboard limitation that prevents 4GB of memory being accessible.
If you are running a 32bit operating system, eg standard Windows 7 or Vista then it can only see just over 3.5GB of RAM.
Run DXDIAG to see details about your graphics card memory.
i got 4 gb ram with only 3.2 usable...big deal...usable ram is always a lil less

Why does it take so long to start up my computer?
I have a fairly powerful computer (HP Envy 14) and it used to start up quite fast but now it takes 4 minutes and 25 seconds to be fully booted up. I used the software Soluto to turn off a lot of applications and delay others that would start up at boot. At that point it would take 2 minutes and 40 seconds. The next time I restarted, it took 4 minutes :S And some of that time isn't even used booting any applications (even system.exe) so I don't know why its taking so long. Any ideas on how to shorten my boot time? Why does it take so long to start up my computer?
Make sure that your system is set to NOT search for network devices and connections prior to booting, this can take an annoying amount of time depending on your system setup and network requirements. Second, download Microsofts "Autoruns". This tool will show every possible application or process that is being spawned at startup and where it is being spawned from (registry, startup folder etc). Give these two things a try first along with checking your running processes under Task Manager immediately after booting up.

Laptops Similar to XPS 15 (L502X)?
I went through several iterations of searching: mobile, medium sized and gaming laptops.
I crossed out gaming laptops as they were too heavy with their giant PSU's.
I looked at Thinkpad X1 which is very expensive for its hardware, then Thinkpad X220, a little cheaper but is kinda too small for me. Both of those options can't handle graphics really well, aka 3D modelling.
I then checked out the Thinkpads T420s/T520s, I was willing to sacrifice graphics for their durability and good given history, however at their full discount the base model, with mediocre specs, can't even compare to the next laptop I looked at.
Then I looked into medium sized, and saw Dell's XPS 15 models. Their base price is $700 which is very good considering it comes with Nvidia GT 525M which should be able to do a decent amount of 3D processing (not gaming tho), also comes with good amount of ram, HD, and i5 CPU.
The thing with XPS is, it's kinda large to carry to classes, imo. I would like to be able to carry it to classes, program and do all that kind of stuff. (I'd also like to upgrade it to a 1080p screen and possibly get a custom lid)
I currently own a bulky old Dell Inspiron 1501, and that's pretty much the borderline of size, even then it's a little heavy to carry it in my backpack.
Are there any laptops that can compete with pricing of XPS 15 given its performance and stuff?
Btw, HP Envy 14 starts at $1000 price point with similar specs, so that's kinda expensive for me.
I am willing to pay $750 - 900.
Thanks in advance!Laptops Similar to XPS 15 (L502X)?
The Asus N53SV-XE1 is a solid computer, especially for the price. I was surprised at how much a difference the new i7 made in performance compared to my old laptop's Core 2 Duo. When it overclocks, prepare to be surprised at how much this baby can do. The graphics card has handled everything I have thrown at it so far. Battery life is reasonable, I got three and a half hours when I put it in battery saving mode. Even with the processor underclocked in these settings, it is still extremely fast and can handle virus scans, email, and web surfing in short order. The screen makes HD videos and games look awesome, too.

Which HP laptop is better out of these three?
Between the DM4t Pavilion Series with an i5 intel core, the DV6t Select Edition with an i7 intel core, and the ENVY 14 Beats Edition with an i5 intel core, which is best? I tend to be online a lot, have several documents and a couple programs open at once, edit videos, and listen to music/watch movies on iTunes. Which do you think I would like better? I'm not looking for other suggestions, just which of these is the best. Thanks for the help, I appreciate it :)Which HP laptop is better out of these three?
for all that, just get the one with the most RAM (4, 6 or 8gb would be good)Which HP laptop is better out of these three?
For what you do on the computer you may like the ENVY beats audio edition. You would not for what you do know the true difference between the i5 processor and the i7 processor.

What do I need to drive 2 or 3 monitors from my laptop?
I have a shiny new HP envy 14 1050ea. I'd like to use it to drive 2/3 external monitors to create a larger single visible workspace. I *understand* that the combo of graphics card and Windows 7 should enable me to do this. The laptop has 1 HDMI port and 1 MiniDisplay Port.
The monitors are probably going to be Samsung P2450H 24-inch -ers .
Q. 1 - What adapters/leads/connectors/extra kit do I need?
Q. 2 - Is it generally considered more productive to have two larger monitors or three relatively smaller ones
Thanks for your helpWhat do I need to drive 2 or 3 monitors from my laptop?
The adapters you need depend on the monitors you get. Depending on the laptop it may or may not let you drive both the HDMI and Mini Display ports at the same time. Beware when getting monitors as well that MOST monitors don't have MiniDisplayPort connectors so you'll need a MiniDisplayPort to HDMI converter to connect using that port. Also you have to specifically shop for HDMI capable monitors if you want that, which are generally a tad bit higher priced than ones without, but not too bad.
Two larger monitors is the preferred method at my place,

Mac or Pc for college?
I'm getting a laptop for the next 4-6 years of college
Ill use it to write paper, play games like wow and shooters edit music, video and photos
Do macs come with software to edit? I wantedthe macbook pro 13 with 4 gb ram or the hp envy 14 with 6 gb ram any advice?Mac or Pc for college?
That's going to depend on your major. Some will recommend a Mac, some will recommend Windows. Talk to the department.
DrDave, very, very wrong. Kahless is actually closer to the truth than you are, Mr uber experience. Apple sells a disproportionately large number of Macs to college students. Look it up.
I use a Macbook Pro i5 to run WoW, it works great, even flawless I would say, but gets pretty warm. I heard in general it is bad on laptops to run heavy games like that, best to use desktops since they have better cooling. Unless you have to run a Windows program that isn't available for Mac I really don't see any reason to not at least consider a Mac.Mac or Pc for college?
Over 50% of all laptops sold for college use are Macs. I's suggest the 13" MacBook Pro. All MacBooks come with all the software installed: Mac OS X, iPhoto, iMovie, iDvd, iChat, Text Edit, Photo Booth, Garage Band, iTunes, and more. The MacBook line is rated higher than all Windows laptops for reliability, tech support, and customer satisfaction.
i own a hp dv6 and iMac.
Both of which I love to use but the iMac is a desktop and ALL MACS come with iLife 11 which has iMovie iTunes iPhoto stuff like they and they are a dream to edit on while on the Windows side you got windows live which is meh.
I would go to a Apple store because it is such a cool experience and try one out for yourself. Don't go to Best Buy to buy a Mac.
Good luck at college I hope my iMac can get me through college I just got in Sept.
I could write a book but I'll make it simple with my 30 plus years using computers. You want a valuable tool, get a PC. You want a toy, get a Mac.
EDIT: I don't know where clueless gets his data but 50% of the computers sold to college students are NOT Macs! Not even close. More like 8% are Macs.
i would go with mac. there is so much you can do with it. excel, powerpoint, and word. automatic dictionary with it as well. great laptop!
PC. More customizable and better for games.

I have a 3 core processor. Its fantastic, because you get great performance but dont have to spend so much. Your current rig is fine rly. As for the laptop...fantastic processor, yeah, good ram, 5650 is descent card for sure. Desktops are better because they are much more upgradeable and come with less problems. Laptops are good for those on the go. Honestly, if I were you I would just upgrade my desktop a bit. Get a 5850, leave the ram, and upgrade that processor to an AMD quad core or (if your mobo supports it) a AMD six core %26lt;--------------------AMAZING processor apparently!
Performance wise, your laptop might have a slight edge, but they are pretty similar. Mobile processors don't perform as well as their desktop counterparts, and same can be said for the graphics cards.

I tend to use this for mid to med high performance gaming, video chatting, and word processing. I am a sophmore in high school and i need a good computer to make it through high school and college.Which Laptop should i pick?
Get the one at amazon it has a way better graphics card which is the best thing to get for a laptop since you can upgrade ram, and hard drive if you wanted. If you get the best buy one, it wont be worth it cause games wont run as good as they would on the other from amazon.

In my opinion you should choose the Sony VPCEB36FG Laptop which comes with Intel Core i3-370M (2.40 GHz), 500GB HDD, 4GB DDR3 RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 (1GB), Bluetooth, Webcam, 15.5" wide Display, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
They're both really good companies, but if you want it purely for gaming it depends on the specs for each computer. For gaming though, I would go with HP, and for everything else Sony VaioWhich laptop to buy???????? i am really confused!!! HP or sony viao? i basically want a "gaming laptop"?
Sony is best, and even HP is not bad in any side. You can choose any one from them.
I've heard better about the Sony Vaio personally.

Why won't skype 4.2 download?
I have a brand new HP Envy 14 with windows 7. I had a fairly cheap Dell laptop for nearly 4 years and it did not have a webcam...my new hp does. There are no problems with the new computer, everything is running smoothly, the internet is fast, and all other downloads i have had have been quick and effective. So I went to skype and made an account and I have everything it says I need for the video chat. Then I click download for windows skype 4.2 and it just comes up with the top bar of the page and everything else is blank and it says there is an error... is there something i'm doing wrong? What should I do? Help please!!!!Why won't skype 4.2 download?
what is the name of the error?

What should I buy with my first job's money?
I'm in high school and I have a part time job. I have saved up about $450 and want to buy something with it. I am considering a ps3 with portal 2, a motorola xoom tablet (maybe an iPad 2 but probably not), or an HP envy 14. The only one i can afford right now is the ps3. It would take me 2 or 3 weeks to save up for the xoom, and like 2 months for the hp envy 14. I make about $100 a week. What do you think I should buy or do you have any suggestions on what else i should buy. What should I buy with my first job's money?
People who ask what to buy usually don't really need any of their options. You buy, just for the satisfaction of buying.
Why don't you buy something cheaper now, say a watch or a pair of jeens or a T-shirt you always wanted, and save your money for the future, when you really need to buy something.restaurant week nyc cracker barrel locations

Is Hewlett Packard (HP) doing better in 2010?
So, you may know that HP is said to be one of the worst laptop companies regarding how trustworthy they are. People are saying their screen and keyboards flex, some say their laptops overheat and some say their AC Adapters die out. So I go to a school that has a laptop program and saw a guy with a pavillion dm4, looked pretty durable, was fast and the fan was quieter than my VAIO EA. So, I might get the Envy 14, I just want to know is the 2010 line of HP laptops taking a turn in direction and going to the trustwothy side or are they still the same as before. Please, no biased answers. Thank you. Oh and, if anyone has the Envy 14, can you tell me how good its been for you and if any problems occured thanks. Is Hewlett Packard (HP) doing better in 2010?
Envy 14. It's an awesome laptop. I've been an owner for about a month now. It's really fantastic. It's very durable with the solid magnesium chassis. Manages to keep cool even with an intense quad core processor. It packs discrete switchable graphics and one of the most stunning laptop displays available.
HP laptops have been getting better. More models have been moving to the chiclet keyboard style, and many reviewers now say HP's keyboards rival Lenovo's classic ThinkPad designs as the best notebook keyboard. Also, the trackpad is now much larger and easier to use. In addition, metal chassis designs have become common with HP.Is Hewlett Packard (HP) doing better in 2010?

Which laptop should I get for uni?
Hey, basically I am looking for a laptop for university and since after finding out that the HP Envy 14 comes out in August my choices are narrowed down to the HP Envy 14-1050ea and the Acer Timeline X 4820T Core i5 Laptop.
The screen size and weight between them doesn't matter too much to me, I am just looking for a laptop that will be fast and for when I get some free time will be able to play games well. So since I know very little about laptop specs I just want to know which will be better.

Acer is a terrible brand. Avoid them at all costs.
That HP envy looks really good and it will be perfect for gaming.Which laptop should I get for uni?
I've always liked HPs, but for this time I would go for the Acer laptop; having the same video capabilities, hard drive size, etc you'll like the extra juice you can get from the Acer Timeline unit, and you know most games are power consuming apps.
Sorry HP people but this time I'd go for the Acer unit.
Good luck ( and good grades, too!) lol

Intel i5-520m vs i7-720qm for gaming and college?
I plan on buying a HP Envy 14 for college. I look to play games on it such as starcraft 2, some fallout 3 and similar games. The envy 14 comes with the Ati 5650 mobility and im torn between getting the i5-520m processor or the i7-720gm. I heard the i5 uses less power and is cooler but i want something that will last for atleast 4 years. Which of the two should i choose for college and gaming?Intel i5-520m vs i7-720qm for gaming and college?
unless your major depends on it ( rendering, autoCAD etc ) then you don't need the i7
get i5 because
-its plenty for what you plan to do ( most games need more gpu than cpu )
-its easier on the battery life and since your getting the envy 14 you probably want it to be as portable as possible
-you get switchable graphics which means that when your not playing games or doing other graphic intensive applications, you can use the integrated graphics which will increase the battery lifeIntel i5-520m vs i7-720qm for gaming and college?
The i5 paired with the 5650 (and at least 4GB of ram) should be enough to play pretty much any game out there currently, but who knows what will come out in the next 4 years? The obvious answer would be get the i7 because it's more powerful than the i5. However, if it is a possible option, go for the i5 and upgrade the graphics card.portuguese translator kens5

Connecting a laptop to a monitor.?
So I got a new laptop and I'm planning on getting a 27-inch monitor for my xbox and laptop. However, my laptop is the HP envy 14 1011nr. I believe it has an hdmi port and display port. What cables would I need to connect to this monitor?

Here is the laptop if you need to see the specs:

If it has an HDMI port, then all your need is an HDMI cable. Or, you could use the VGA cable that comes with the monitor.
You will need an HDMI to VGA converter so you can plug in the LCD's VGA cable into the converter. You then go to display settings and tell the computer what to show on the secondary monitorConnecting a laptop to a monitor.?
the cables come with the monitor -- i checked the newegg page.
note that it is currently out of stock.
if your laptop has HDMI output, and since the LCD screen has HDMI input. then all you need is a HDMI cable.

It is not only with HP, even others are not so good. However HP has recently release a new version of its dm3 notebook with intelligent cooling system.

I've heard that HP laptops are just cheaply made, and don't stand the test of time. Go SONY all they way. You get what you pay for as far as computers go. Vaio or bust for me. I have a brand new Sony Vaio VPCEE23FX that I bought from wal-mart exactly one week ago! Love it! Good Luck.

*Nvidia G310M Graphics Engine with 1 GB DDR3 Dedicated VRAM and Optimus Technology
*4 GB of DDR3 1066MHz DRAM (2 GB x 2 slots), 4 GB Max; Intel Wireless 802.11 b/g/n + WiDi

I would go with the Sony Vaio
I think you should go with Sony VPCEB37FX/WI Notebook.

How to make this American laptop work in the UK?
After months of searching I have finally found a HP ENVY 14 with Radiance display however the laptop is American and I'm unsure on whether to go through with the purchase.
The adaptor section of the specs say that the laptop takes 90W AC but i don't have a clue what that means and whether it will work here. Would it just be a case of buying an adaptor in England? would that fit in the laptops power port? or do I just need a plug converter?
I don't really want to have a plug converter because they look clumsy and unattractive.

Hi
You just need a two pin to three pin adapter and to change the voltage switch on your laptop to 240 volts (that is very important..or else bye bye laptop).
A shaver adapter will do (cheap),but you can spend a bit more and get a two plug adapter (plug two devices into one socket) -

Yes just a plug converter, or a new adapter would be fine

What is the best laptop for college?
I am heading off to college in august and i am going to get a new laptop at that time. As of right now I really love the HP ENVY 14, because it is simply the best looking computer that I have found (other than Mac Book Pro which is more expensive).
Is the ENVY 14 a good pick for college?
This is what any laptop I get needs to have/be able to do:
* 15.6in or less
*backlit keyboard (surprisingly hard to find)
* decent dedicated graphics card
* below 2 grand
Any suggestions/input?What is the best laptop for college?
Try not to purchase a laptop simply because it looks good. Because you're using it for college, I suggest you find one that has features you would find useful. The internal hardware is what matters.
I would definitely go for a MacBook Pro. I personally own one, and it works amazingly well.
The HP ENVY 14 seems like a good choice, though.
I hear envy feels cheep.
I once had a XPS 1340, it was very sweet and it looked, felt and ran like it was a million bux.
But
It was HEAVY for a 13.4 (but everything was in there, LED the best kind P9600 CPU Geforce 9500-- this was 2 or 3 1340 generations back)
Geforce 210 or 310 is built into the latest generation.
I ran very hot but that was like 2 generations back... so make sure to return it within 6 days if they didn't fix that.
You will really LOVE the Screen, Raw power for a 13.4 and the keyboard is simply one of the best there is.What is the best laptop for college?

I want to get a HP Beats Laptop but is it worth it?
I live in Australia, and the HP Envy 14 beats is really rare here and its priced $2299, and it has got the solo headphones bundled. I think this is a bit pricey considering its specs: i7, 640gb hd, 1gb graphics card, 4gb ram. There are other HP's with these exact specs for only $1200, but yeah considering this is beats, and rare i am thinking its worth it. What is your opinions? is the envy series better somehow than other hp's with build quality etc?
Let me know whether i should get the HP Envy 14 Beats! BTW i got the money, i just want to know if it is worth it? welcome all opinions :DI want to get a HP Beats Laptop but is it worth it?
I would get a Toshiba Satellite series laptop or dell inspiron series laptops, fast all rounded reliable laptop never had a problem with the two and I repair laptops. But yeah they're pretty good as well along with Macs.
Yeah well jake you got one thing right the webcam is bad, but by the sound of your laptop its obviously user error and you have no idea how to use one.
Thats unbelievable! I recently got an Envy 14 (not the beats version) for $899.99 with similar specs. The laptop is amazing, but not for $2299. If I were you I would definitely STAY AWAY (for that price you could get a Mac with similar specs and they are insanely overpriced). If you're looking for a new laptop I would wait 2-3 more months for the release of laptops with the sandy bridge i5's and i3's. The graphics on the 2nd gen i5 are comparable to the Radeon 5650 ( the graphics card that comes with the envy) due to the 32nm die.
If I could suggest a brand it would be Asus or Lenovo and both have already claimed to have brand new designs for laptops by April.
Hope this helps!I want to get a HP Beats Laptop but is it worth it?
Yeah..its pretty good. But if I were you, I'd buy a mac. I once bought the HP Envy 14 but i soon returned it and got a mac. Wayy better.
Don't get it. It's not worth the extra $1000. The reason why it's able to sell at such a high price is because it's advertised with Dr Dre, who makes it look like the ideal music computer. You'd be paying the extra thousand for the BRAND. And like you mentioned, it is too pricey for those kinds of specs.
And I saw that guy saying you should get a Toshiba Satellite. DON'T. I'm on one right now, and it's terrible. I've honestly had my hard drive replaced twice, have had 3 keys fall off without being able to put back on, it can't hold an internet connection for very long, the webcam's bad, the volume wheel's annoying, the battery sucks, and it seems and looks very cheap. If I could go back in time, I would've gotten that shiny new Dell.

How long does an average laptop last?
I really want to buy a brand, new, cool laptop right now. the problem is how long does an average laptop last? I am eyeing for the hp envy 14 beats right now (which is pretty good right now) And i need it for at least 4 years until i finish college. I had desktops, and i know they can last VERY LONG. but i dont have that much experience with laptops yet. I just dont want to buy my hp envy 14 beats, and then have to buy a new one in like 2 or 3 yearsHow long does an average laptop last?
that laptop should last u through college. unless u want to run some modern games in like 4 years you should be perfectly fine with that laptop.
i have had a gateway that was a gaming laptop for 3 years and i even carried it around a lot and i was very happy with it but i retired it recently because it isnt very good for college, but it still works perfectly fine.
take decent care of it and you should be able to keep it for at least 4 years.
Depends on how you use it. If you carry it to class and bang it around, you'll be lucky to get 2 years.
If it sits in your desk all the time and is handled carefully (and isn't stolen) you may be able to stretch the life to four years. How long does an average laptop last?
Treat it right, and it'll last you a very long time.
depends on how well u taking care of it..

Which laptop is better?
I have narrowed it down to thses 2. The Sony Vaio S Series or the HP Envy 14.
I plan to use it for regular internet browsing, watching videos and light-moderate gaming. I'm aware that the Envy would be better for gaming due to the higher specs and superior graphics card, but I'm mainly interested in portability, battery life(note that I would get the extra battery for the Envy or the battery sheet, looks, build quality and reliability overall. Here are a couple of screen shots i took of what it would cost me upon ordering them online.
Also, in the gaming part of this, I want to be able to play games as simple as MapleStory and as intense as Call of Duty(at low or med settings, but playable still). Note that i have a PS3, so the laptop would be my secondary choice when it comes to gaming, but i would like to have that opportunity, nevertheless.

I would be bias but I will stay away from Acer and Hp because of their problems on design and durability. Acer looks cheap. Although Hp has better design, it has lots of problems on its hardware. Most repair technicians have difficulties handling Hp problems.
Try to check products of ASUS and Toshiba.

Acer is a BUDGET make, the build quality of these things are 'OK'
HP however, is one of the most reliable makes there are.
I have worked with ALL laptop makes but Lenovo and HP are by far the best.
The HP has a smaller screen and costs more but you'll have it for a long long time.
Also HP battery are very sturdy and will go on and on for many years.
I cannot say the same for Acer.
If you want the big 17 inch screen and 'comparable' hardware to the HP then the Acer is for you.
They are both quite equal actually.
If you'll be buying a new laptop in a few years anyway then just take the cheapest one. What Laptop is better?
It's not the brand that matters, it's what's inside.
In this case the HP ENVY has better specs, so go for it.
I have had an Acer for almost 4 years and I am very satisfied with it, I also had an HP for over 5 years and was very satisfied with it, so like I said it's not the brand that matters...

Beats by Dr. Dre experts!?
Okay so I'm going to buy two things, both of which are of beats products. I am 14 and my birthday is 2 weeks and 1 day from this current day. I have $660 saved up and don't know what to do. I can buy the BeatsPro and then wait until the summer to work and save up for the HP Envy 14" Beats Edition Laptop. Or I can wait until my birthday and buy the Laptop and wait until the summer to by the BeatsPro. What should I do? Help Please(:Beats by Dr. Dre experts!?
Might as well wait until the summer; the current model of Beats will be discontinued and you can get a good deal on them.

I can't download ANYTHING!?
Ok, I payed for the program, and clicked on the download link, and it took me to the page that said "thank you for your download". But I didn't dl anything! I'm using google chrome on my new laptop, an hp envy 14. Please helpI can't download ANYTHING!?
You might want to try turning your pop ups on. and check to see if when you pressed download if there was a yellow bar at the top. if there is then click on it and click "Allow" or whatever it says, and the download screen should pop upI can't download ANYTHING!?
Well... What program is it? Did you make sure it was "official" in any way? If it's a new laptop you might not want to go download anything without making sure it has a licensed owner and it will not pass a virus. Also make sure there's a money-back guarentee Click start and type in what you downloaded. If it is there make sure to take a Virus Scan. I reccomend SpyBot. If it's not theresend the website a message saying: " I did not get my (Program name) I downloaded. I want my money-back." Or something like that.
I hope this helped :)

im buying my first laptop and i narrowed it down to:

Hp Envy 14 Beats Edition for $1750
im looking for something that looks awesome, is thin and somewhat portable, can easily handle mild gaming, surfs the internet fast, has great sound quality, good for watching hd movies, has a decent screen res and has a backlit keyboard, the most im playing for a laptop is $2100. Do any of u know any laptops that have all those characterstics and are better than a mabook pro or envy 14? the only bad thing i can see with getting a envy 14 beats edition is that its screen resolution is crappy but it has beats audio so the audio would be better than a macbook pro. oh and which one would be faster at loading itunes and not being laggy with it? because othe computers ive used are really laggy when using itunes.Mac or pc??????????????????
they will both operate at almost the same quality. When buying a mac the extra price is for an operating system that is said to me more "simple" however it runs more efficiently which is why mac gets away with selling computers with less on the hardware end for much more. Personally i do very well with windows i would prefer the pc however it depends on your applications. For yours it sounds like you already know how to navigate windows well enough and if you decide you dont like windows you should look into something called hackintosh (putting mac OS on a pc) from what ive seen it rarely works and i havent seen anyone get it but if this is the route you take you can partition the hard drive and use half with mac half with windows here you get the best of both worlds, the affordability of pc and the os of the mac but when buying a mac you pay for the os in the long run i would go with a pc and no worries about the laggy i tunes if you plan on spending that much on a computer you wont have to worry about any laggy things unless you get ripped off. I would also stay away from hp they have something like a 30% failure rate within the first 3 years my suggestion for a laptop is sony viao that's what i am on right now and I love it and i payed 1000 for it also if you are interested in any custom desktop computers or would like anymore advice feel free to e mail me at jstanavich@nycap.rr.com good luck i hope i helped
The 15" MacBook Pro is the highest rated 15" laptop by Consumer Reports. You get the highest rated tech support, reliability and customer satisfaction. You also get a battery that last twice as long as the HP. You also get a laptop %26amp; operating system that has not had a virus written for it since 2006, versus over 1,000,000 for Windows.Mac or pc??????????????????
id get the pc since it has more and best features for a decent-gud- price. its quad core so its more powerful and smarter, has more RAM, and a larger hard drive storage. and got a very gud video card. so prefer u to get the pc-laptop.

Get this instead of the second one, better cooling and specs for a lower price. My buddy got it for college(he is majoring in computer engineering) and it is as he says "teh pwnage".
the 2nd one. It is faster, more memory, and cheaper.
Macs are usually a larger initial investment, but in the long run will always outperform any Windows box. Go with the Mac.
personally, I use macbook pro
i was running into the same situation as you. I got Macbook pro and I love it!
well pc's are betetr than laptops..
plus it got better processor and ram

Have a look at an Dell’s Alienware M15x. For about $1800 you get a machine better than both you list, including Mobility HD 5850, 1920x1080 WLED, Slot-loading blu-ray reader, DVD/CD burner, 9-cell battery, Windows 7.
Marketed as “The Most Powerful 15" Gaming Laptop in the Universe”
I would suggest only 4GB memory since beyond that is overkill.
The performance and compatibility of a top-notch Windows PC, hardware and software, has no match in the Mac world.
Go configure it and decide.
http://www.alienware.com/Landings/laptop…
You will get more power for your money with a pc. With mac, you're generally just paying for that apple logo on the front.
And that i7 in the pc will do all of that easily. That cpu can even handle pretty intense gaming. Honestly I think it's overkill. For what you're doing, the max price you should probably look for would be around $1000. Anything past that and you'll just be paying for power that you aren't going to use.
If you want to handle any sort of gaming at all, gets Windows. Unless you have a specific need for a Mac (which you don't), get Windows. You're effectively paying $500 for the Mac with the Apple Tax. If you want an operating system that is far more secure than Mac OS X or Windows, get Linux (Linux Mint is good for beginners).
ITunes is a piece of junk and a waste of system resources, and I would never allow it onto my computer, but yes, the HP will run iTunes fine.

Out of these three laptops, which is best?
Vaio EA22Fx
HP Envy 14
Macbook Pro 13
I also want to know how much larger the envy 14 is than the macbook pro 13 and vaio ea. I know the mac is 13 inch, the vaio 14 and the envy 14.5 but like when you put them together, how much of a difference can u see.Out of these three laptops, which is best?
macs are overpriced, so cross that from list.
sony is also expensive and has troubles, so cross that too.
this leaves hp as the winner.
Well, the HP Envy seems to be the best equipped here - you can choose to have a Core i7 CPU with a Mobility Radeon 5650 GPU, which is the best of the three laptops for gaming or intensive media editing. But it'll likely to be the most expensive one out of the three due to the high-end specs.
The Vaio is a good compromise between price and performance - it has the Core i3-350M and Intel GMA HD graphics, which isn't a bad combination for a bit of light gaming and video editing.
It's really up to what you are going to use your laptop for: the Envy is the best for gaming; Vaio is a good all-rounder; and the MacBook Pro a stylish possesion.
Hope that helps :)Out of these three laptops, which is best?
The Macbook Pro 13" is definetly the best laptop of the 3. Macs are super stable (dont crash, dont slow down over time, etc.) They are also easy to use and easy to get used to (if you're new).
A lot of really nice software has started to come up for mac ever since Apple became a more valueable company than microsoft, and the pc's are becoming cheap, second-rate computers that people no longer want. They have too many problems and viruses are rampant
Macs are secure and have much better inbuilt virus protection - infact, it's soo good that most mac owners never bother with antivirus software - instead, they use the inbuilt automatic backup (that's literally as easy as "plug this in, wait until the arrow stop spinning, and then eject the drive"
and if/when there;s a virus, then all you need to do is perform a full restore from your backup - which leaves your mac EXACTLY (down to the most random settings, programs, etc.) how it was at the last backup.
Systems like this take out the complicatedness of computers.
If you decide to go with a 13" macbook pro, the screen will be a little smaller than maybe what you're used to. If you want, head to an apple store and just walk in, take a look at the 13" 15" and 17" macbook pro screen sizes side by side. (after all - every 15" screen is 15") 14" is really 13" with an extra vertical part added on, and is a very square screen.

Clean install windows 7?
How do i clean install my brand new hp envy 14?
It does not come with a cd (bought from hp online store)Clean install windows 7?
You want to do a Clean Install, which is also known as Recovery.
The previous answer discusses how to do a Hard Reset, which is not the same thing as a Clean Install (Recovery).
New HP Laptops have a Recovery Partition, so you do not need the OS cd.
The first thing you should do is backup any important data, such as pictures, music files, favorites, and anything important that you鈥檝e saved since purchasing the computer. All new data will be lost and the system will be returned to factory condition.
Next, you鈥檒l want to unplug any external devices, such as USB printers, cameras or scanners. These devices could interfere with the recovery process.
There are a couple of ways to reach the recovery screen. **The easiest will be to tap the F11 key repeatedly when restarting the PC.** This will take you to a screen to begin the process. Or, once in Windows, you can go to Start%26gt;All Programs%26gt;HP Tools%26gt;HP PC System Recovery.
Follow the onscreen instructions. The process may take an hour or two depending on the size of the hard drive. Once complete, your HP computer should be reverted to the original factory condition.
*edit* Forgot to say that if you are given a choice, choose Restore (Destructive).Clean install windows 7?
Things You'll Need:
* Windows laptop
1. Push the power button until the laptop turns off completely. Wait for all lights to stop flashing.
2. Unplug the power cord and all peripherals connected to the machine. Exercising caution at this time prevents unexpected electric shocks on the user.
3. Turn the PC notebook over and disengage the battery cover in the back. A coin may be used to open the door.
4. Take out the battery pack. Lay it on a safe and clean surface.
5. Press the power button in the front again. Hold it for 60 seconds and release.
6. Install the battery pack back into the laptop and reconnect all cords.
7. Turn PC laptop around and power on. Check on the root of the problem if further operating system or application-related issues remain.
Should give you the brand new OS
Hope this helps

If you are a gamer then yes. If not you wouldn't necessarily need that powerful of a graphics card.
I would say no... But then again what use will you have for the laptop? Gaming , internet use work?
You don't need to spend alot on the internet use or the work side but to be playing games laptops can be very dear. Look around alot, don't jump on the first nice laptop you see there could be better and cheaper onesIs this laptop worth it?
no! that one has 14.5", 2.3 GHZ, 4 GB RAM
It has better graphic than the one below but its not worth it
buy this instead a lot cheap and good. It has 15.6" , 2.26 GHZ, 4GB RAM

Best Buy Buying/Testing Laptops?
I am highly considering buying a laptop from best buy. I am stuck between the hp envy 14 and the apple macbook pro 13 inch. I want to be able to test out the laptops and see if i like them. I don't want to purchase my laptop then not like it, so can you see where I am coming from? Is there a possible chance that you can take home a laptop for a week to test it then purchase it later on? Thanks a lot!Best Buy Buying/Testing Laptops?
No, you can not test-run a laptop. That would just be foolish of Best Buy, because a huge amount of laptops would be stolen. You can only test out the stuff they have in stores. A good way to see the laptop you want in action, or being used, would be online in video reviews

Laptop sleeve vs. Macbook Pro sleeve?
I have the HP Envy 14 which is a 14.5 inch laptop and I have been shopping around for a sleeve.
I keep seeing (even in stores like BestBuy) that they separate regular laptop sleeves from the MacBook Pro sleeves.
Basically I want to know the different between a regular laptop sleeve and a MacBook sleeve.
Will my laptop fit just fine in the 15inch macbook pro sleeve?
THANKS!!!Laptop sleeve vs. Macbook Pro sleeve?
The only difference I see is in price. When I went to Best Buy to find a case for my macbook, but macbook ones were around 40 dollars! I went to Target and got one for 15, and it fits mine fine. I wouldn't waste your money. The 15 inch one would fit fine.Laptop sleeve vs. Macbook Pro sleeve?
hahaha, a macbook is a laptop. its a glorified, 1500$ laptop. Your laptop should fit fine, but try it on and return if its wrong. what is the world coming to if they have to glorify macs to the point of special cases?

Which laptop ACER OR HP?
I want to buy a laptop.I am confused between Acer Aspire timelineX 4820tg and hp envy 14.
Which laptop i should go for.Plz somebody tell me which one is good on the basis of their configuration specs (not on the basis of liking)plz plz plz plz plzWhich laptop ACER OR HP?
HP ! Acer laptops have low sound volume and will mess up overtime I know this from my sister owning one. Her laptop was good at first but as time went by it started messing up when she tried to move the cursor then that lead to more problems and now using her laptop is hard for her.

I will say that without any further thought go with HP Envy 14 laptops.
They are really nice and excellent in functionality, durability and works like really speed. So I would simply say that you should check out this HP laptop for sure.
Moreover they are really great in every angle and it's a solid make as well.Which laptop ACER OR HP?
Being that I work in a PC repair shop, I would avoid HP, they have a lot of hardware incompatibility issues with each other, acer is a great brand, stick with them, you cant go wrong. I have seen chip and caps on boards that look like they have been glued on with elmers glue from HP manufacturer while acer will solder the joints and be sure than hardware is in tact.
Compare specs, and price... Wanna save? Acer. Want quality? HP. I'm referring to up-to-date machines.
Acer Aspire timelineX 4820tg
avoid both brands. i would reccomend getting a toshiba or asus laptop.
Go for HP only.... acer service is very bad
I would pick a HP. They are easy to use and faster.stage stores professor layton

Upgrading RAM in a laptop...?
I currently have 4GB DDR3 1066MHz RAM in my HP Envy 14. I want to upgrade to 6GB but if I do that means I will have one 2GB and one 4GB stick in my laptop which means I won't be able to run it in dual channel. Will I notice a big difference in speed? Is it worth it? I would go 8GB but it is too expensive.Upgrading RAM in a laptop...?
To be honest it probably isn't wort upgrading at all. If your processor is below 2.7GHz there will be no difference unless you run a TONNE of simple applications at one time or do intense video editing.Upgrading RAM in a laptop...?
4 gb of ram is enough to run just about any program out there right now! i wouldn't bother upgrading right now! i doubt you would notice much of a difference if you did do that, but there is really no need to?

I want to get a new laptop so can someone tell me if this is any good ?? :) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HP-Envy-14-1190ea-14-5-2-53-GHz-Laptop-PC-/160654278417?pt=UK_Computing_Laptops_EH%26amp;hash=item2567bdbf11#ht_5057wt_1139Is this laptop any good ?
Don't Get it. I recommend a Dell or Acer. HPs Have a Tendency to slow down, and also have a hard time connecting to the internet according to most who have them. Plus the Price is Way Too much compared the Prices of Other Computers which work better and are cheaper.
It really does depend on what your going to use it for, like the other comment said, for newer games it might not work so great, but of course it depends on your budget. I've used my laptop for school for a couple of years and it literally has a fifth of the processor speed this one has. I play older computer games like Age of empires 2, I use Microsoft word 2010, and I even do programming and make 3d models on my old nagging computer. It also depends on your preference; I don't think I would get used to a 14.5" inch screen after being used to a 17" inch screen even if it was a better laptop, so if you aren't absolutely sure you want this laptop, I would wait as long as possible because there will be other great deals too.Is this laptop any good ?
it looks half decent but if your buying this to play newer video games on it i would suggest you don't buy this. but if its just for business/school or just screwing around on it should be good.

The Pavilion is probably the better choice for gaming.
For one, its cheaper. It also has the same processor as the ENVY, and the same amount of RAM.
The real difference is in the GPU, and the screen. The Pavilion has a significantly larger screen, and a better screen resolution. The GPU is also better in the Pavilion, as indicated by the benchmarks down in the source section.
Initially you might see the higher number on the ENVY's graphics card and think it's better, but it's just a newer low-end model, whereas the Pavilion has an older, but higher-end model that will perform better.
The Pavilion also has the same Beats sound system as the ENVY, and more HDD space: 1TB.
I can't really see any reason to buy the ENVY over the Pavilion for gaming unless you really want to pay $200 extra and sacrifice power for a Beats logo on your laptop. What laptop will be better for gaming ?
Well first Ur gonna want to go out side and find a seagull. then yell hokey bananas at it 4 times while eating a hula hoop. then go to McDonald and by 6.3 big macs and pay with Francs. Then throw those those big macs at Ur cousin Willis and hell give you a onion. use that onion on the Washington monument and a peace of grey toast will appear and it will give you the answer to ur question
The second one, the Envy, has a slighly better graphics card. Other than that, the two are very similar gaming wise.

New Baseball Glove?
I have a Mizuno Envy 14 inch glove that I got in April. It's semi-broken in and it's got pretty good leather. The only thing I want to change about it is I want to darken the leather and harden it up. What can I use to do this? Best answer gets 10 points.New Baseball Glove?
You can use leather oil or pine tar. Leather oil will darken it and break it in better...Pine tar will darken it, make it sticky and a little harder. I would go with leather oil. You can get oil for your mit at a local sports store. It will make your glove darker, help to break it in better, and make the leather a little bit stiffer.
Here's some places where you can get baseball glove oil:

If its semi-broken in, then why would you want to harden it up? Anyways, if you're glove becomes too soft, you can try wetting it in cold water(but not to waterlog it) and then either blow-dry it or let it dry out in some non-humid heat. Repeat it a few times and let it sit out. That should do the trick.
I don't know about the darkening the leather part, maybe some sort of dye? Or just buy a darker glove.
Hope that helpsNew Baseball Glove?
If you put some glove oil on it might darken it a little, not sure how long it will stay though. Not sure you want to harden it up normally the softer the leather the better.
don't put any conditioners on it, it would only make it more broken in! and DO NOT wet the glove, it will make your glove heavy and a little more broken in. leave it out in the cold weather for a couple of days, or put it by an air conditioner. but dont put it in the fridge or freezer!
14 inch. Holy Cow that thing is huge!!!! Major leaguers cannot use over 12 inch. Thats a softball glove
first off do not put pine tar on your glove as it will ruin it. do not put it in water because it will make it too heavy. Also do not put it out in the cold weather or by the air conditioner because the leather will crack. Go to Wal-Mart or some place similar and buy Mink Oil it will darken that leather right up and clean it also. I would also recommend putting it on there every month or so to clean the glove off because you will get it dirty.chicago restaurant week italian english translation

Stylish computer options?
This question is purely just to see whats out there. I have been eyeing the Alienware M14x and HP Envy 14 Beats Edition for quite some time now, and I'm wondering if their are any other unique laptops out their like it. I haven't found many so far, any input would be appreciated.Stylish computer options?
What's important to you? "unique" means a lot of things.
Hardware? Software? Looks? Price? Because each will have it's own set of laptops.
If your looking for good hardware, software, and price is no problem then alienware is great. But remember your tacking on hundreds if not 1000$ purely for name. Mac products are the same.
If your looking for looks, then just look up pretty laptops or buy a sticker.
If price matters but you want a good machine, forget alienware and apple and start looking up azus and other software brands. You can find amazing laptops for much cheaper everywhere.

HDMI Port Connection not Working?
I have a HP Envy 14...I recently bought an HDMI Cable to connect to my TV which has a HDMI connection also. The video has only been transmitted once...since then it hasn't worked. I think it could be more of a problem with my laptop...there might be some setting I have to activate...it had to restore my laptop so I might have to reset some things. Could you please tell me how to fix itHDMI Port Connection not Working?

Try this if you havent
1 - plug hdmi cord into computer
2- plug it into HDMI number 1
3 - change channel to HDMI 1

Would 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) support dual channel?
on the hp envy 14 laptopWould 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) support dual channel?
Memory
2 customer-accessible/upgradable memory module slots
Supports dual-channel memory
Dual channel should use matched pairs. If dual channel does not work due to different size modules, the performance difference may be not be noticable.Would 6GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) support dual channel?
NO as that seems like 3 x 2gb modules and there are NO 3gb modules that I know of SO its 2x2gb modules or 2x 4gb modules installing 3 modules on a non tri-channel system negates the dual channelness (you know what i mean)

Switchable graphics on laptop?
i have an hp envy 14 with switchable graphics
ati 5650 and probably intel gma 4500
i was wondering how i can switch between them.
in short, where in the settings or bios can i switch between the twoSwitchable graphics on laptop?
Windows automatically switches to the ATI when the Intel card can't handle a game or graphics application, its like the i5 and i7 turbo boost, it isnt activated until its needed.

Should i buy an HP laptop?
i have heard MANY bad things about HPs laptops. My brother has also an HP touchscreen laptop 1.5 years old and its terrible. well it WAS because yesterday it died.
but there are 2 series of HP's laptops which i liked (HP envy 14 and HP pavilion dv6t)... and i would like to purchase one of them. but i dont know because of all the bad reviews and comments about HP brand
so please, if u can, help me decideShould i buy an HP laptop?
If you care to learn the more basic PC maintenance and troubleshooting then you should be okay with the HP. Pavilions are their mainstream line while the Envy is their premium - just stay away from any budget class laptop (Presario, G series, etc.) or you're really asking for problems.
Hp won't be much different compared to Dell, Acer, Gateway, etc. with regards to customer service. They have a 21 day no questions asked return policy so you can give them a try and if there's anything that you don't like about the laptop, just tell them and they'll send you a return box. Make sure to check if the laptop you get qualifies for that return policy first. Whatever happens with the laptop, don't ever let them try to repair it within the return period because they'll most likely try to prolong the issue until the period is finished then start treating you like crap.
if you are good with computers then buy HP
the main problem of HP is the programs that comes with it ( many hp programs ) that sometimes slow your pc down
and the second problem is HP laptops gets really hot so don't worry if you bought a hp and it became hot
but otherwise HP have best PC ability availableShould i buy an HP laptop?
Don`t. I have had 4 HP pcs in the last couple of years. One, was a top line blue ray laptop. Blu ray would not work with no fix from HP. They offered me the same laptop? Would the blu ray work? They did not know. So I put my payment somewhere els. Got it @ fut. shop. It does`nt stop there. My quad media pc blew and the problems with my Blackbird I could write a book.
Ps thier service is TERRIBle.

but there are 2 series of HP's laptops which i liked (HP envy 14 and HP pavilion dv6t)... and i would like to purchase one of them. but i dont know because of all the bad reviews and comments about HP brand
so please, if u can, help me decideShould i buy an HP laptop?
