Is there going to be much difference between the i5 and i7 models also in terms of speed and multitasking? What is your estimate battery life of the hp envy 14 i7 with battery slice?
I estimate about 10-11 hours running i5 + integrated graphics, 5-6 hours i5 + dedicated graphics (note that envy 14 has switchable graphics), 4-5 hours i7 model (i7 switchable graphics does not exist)
I assume with proper specifications, roughly $1300, since dm4t requires an additional $300 for a considerably powerful machine perhaps $1400 if you're going to get the Radiance display and backlit keyboard
There's only going to be much difference on heavily threaded applications like WinRAR, video encoding, but none on non-threaded application like games, in fact when compared the top tier Core i5 can out perform a lower tier Core i7 quad on non-threaded applications while costing $150 less. however core per core a Core i5 cannot outperform a Core i7 dual, high tier Core i7 quad but those processors can cost you $300 or more and reducing battery life for 1 hour. Also the performance boost of a Core i7 quad over the top tier Core i5 is 5-10, sometimes even 20% depending from application to application
