HP Envy 14 or Dell M5010?

I'm buying my first laptop. Here are my needs:

- Must be under $800. Money is tight.

- Must be able to surf the web, watch videos in HD, play DVDs, edit/publish HD videos, and must be able to extend to an external monitor.

- I would REALLY REALLY like it to have a back-lit keyboard, but it is not required.

- Must be portable enough for me to carry to and from school in my laptop backpack and not weigh me down with a textbook in there as well.

- Bluetooth isn't a must but again would be highly preferred.

- Needs good sounding speakers. I don't need state of the art, but speakers that don't suck.

- The laptop needs to be solid and well-built and have good customer support. Will be using this computer for a few years at least (at least 2 years).

- Will be using it mostly on a desk but occasionally on my lap or in the car. Not too often though.

- Also was looking at Macbook Pros, and I absolutely LOVE their design. It's very clean cut. The HP looks similar in design so that's a plus. However, the Dell I found (in my local best buy) has a very polished and cool looking metallic design that I also like very much.

Have been looking at many laptops and configurations lately and have came down to 2 choices:

HP Envy 14 (Core i5, 4GB DDR3, Dedicated Video Card, 14" Display, Slot Loading Drive, Beats Audio)

Dell M5010 (Triple-Core AMD chip, 4GB DDR3, Dedicated Video Card, 15.6: Display)

The HP is $799 and the Dell is $599.

Which one should I go with?HP Envy 14 or Dell M5010?
The Dell's cheaper. There's a reason for that: they're not the best laptops in the world. Far from it.

I would go for the HP. Much more reliable, in my eyes :-)
The HP Envy is better and will lasts longer.

The Dell is cheaper for a reason.

I'd go with HP. I actually want that laptop for some gaming, I might get it too.

I hope you didn't think to get the Mac because of it's design only... the specs are horrible on the cheapest Mac's...HP Envy 14 or Dell M5010?
The information isnt much, but seeing as how the HP has better components, and beats audio for your enjoyment, The HP envy 14 is a way to go. Depending on how good the video card is though, probably better then the dell, is how smoothly edit/publish HD video will work. if your budget is 800 thats a way to go. If you are having doubts, I recommend getting a gaming laptop. There not suited for just gaming after all.
